Before he let out another word, that caped man walked in and stared us both down. "Mr. Robertson, the many guests are due to arrive please stay in your room until we call you down for the festivities." he said in a somewhat unwelcoming voice. As I turned back to go up the stairs, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. When I reached my room and rattled the knob. I heard a low groaning sound coming from across the hallway. A female’s voice, it sounded like again as I stood in silence and listened. Was my mind playing tricks on me or was something truly wrong with this darken scene. I thought to myself as I stared at the last door on the left. As I continued to ponder what was wrong, the groaning sound emaninated once again from behind that door. I quickly walked towards the door where that sound was coming from. As I stood next to the door and listened, I noticed that the unknown groans seemed to have stopped. "Odd." I thought to myself as I attempted to open the door. I soon stepped back after several failed attempts to open it. I walked over to my room and sat on my bed. "Something is wrong in this place." I thought to myself as I stared out the window.
As I eyed the window, my heart began pounding faster as I saw bright lights coming below my window. "The guests must be arriving already." I thought to myself as I leapt across my bed and looked out the window. To my discomfort, the guests had arrived with costumes already on and looking devilish. "Man.. This isn’t looking too good, gotta find a way out of here." I scolded myself as I opened my door to go downstairs. Just as I was about to reach the main staircase, the caped man showed up in front of me. We stared at each other for quite sometime. "Mr. Robertson Feel free to join us in our festivities." the caped man said as he pointed downstairs, where the sounds of laughter and music filled the room. I turned around and stared at the vase by a painting on the far side of the hallway, then back at the caped man. "Lead the way." I said trying to sound like a brave soul. I knew that I probably should’ve ran right there and then, but I also knew.. I had to play it cool.
