Ancient rock paintings dates back to 3000 BC found in AP

Rock art sites that are thousands of years old have been discovered by a group of researchers from the A.P.state department of archaeology and museums.The discovery was made in the reserve forest near Narsapur and Bandala hamlet of Linagala village in Thadwai mandal of Warangal district and near Akkamahadevi caves in the Srisailam hill ranges of Mahbubnagar district. The paintings near Akkamahadevi caves dates back to 3000 BC and are based on animals. “The paintings include animals, aquatic forms, hunting and dancing scenes, geometrical designs,” said Prof. P. Chenna Reddy, director, department of archaeology and museums. The early artists used red ochre and white pigment.
