Andrew Hallam, a professor a Metro State College in Denver, is under fire for making students write an essay that contradicts the "fairy tale image" of Republican VP Candidate Sarah Palin presented at the Republican National Convention.
Students in Andrew Hallam’s English Compostion class were surprised when they were forced to "undermine, contradict and criticize" Palin’s appearance at the convention for their first class assignment.
Metro State College is investigating claims of bias, harassment and bullying in connection with Hallam’s class. Students say that he singled out Republicans and subjected them to unfair treatment and ridicule from classmates.
In light of the media attention that his assignment provoked, Hallam has changed the assignment allowing students to write critically about any political candidate.
