It undoubtedly took longest time in test history to score his first test century but it was a great achievement by this great player of India who has been playing for more about 17 year for the country. Batting at no. 8, he not only top scored for India in their 664 runs first innings but also remain unbeaten at 110 and also broke a jink of a sort by posting the first test century by an Indian in the ongoing series.

India did everything in its power to shut England out of the third Test on a summer day here at The Oval and notch up the test series after 21 years. Kumble’s prior best was 88 against South Africa, almost a decade ago.
