Annual budget of Indian Kashmir to be presented on Aug 10

Srinagar, August 1, (Vijay Kumar) –Referring to the hectic budget preparations, Indian Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather on Saturday said that this year budget would be presented on 10th of August, in the State Legislative Assembly.  He said that adequate funds would be distributed among the departments so that the work on various developmental projects is taken up well in time. 

Addressing  a large gathering  at  Muqam, Hanjoora in district Budgam Kashmir today, the Minister said  that  the  present government under the  sincere leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is making  all out  efforts  to  transform the  socio economic scenario  of the state.  He said that the time is not far when the state would touch new heights of development.  He said that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah persuaded the Central government to provide liberal funding to the State  adding that it was the result of these efforts that Central Government   approved highest ever Rs. 5500 Crore for the state.

         He said  that the recent  visit of 13th Finance Commission to the State was a success for  the  state planners as  the Commission  was  impressed and convinced meticulously  about the  Financial requirements of the State.  He said that the Commission appreciated the recommendations of Jammu and Kashmir Government and said  that no other state in the country could plead its case in such a transparent manner.

Mr Rather said that Service to People is the mission of present Government, which would be pursued as act of faith to improve the lot of poor people living in every nook and corner of the state. He said  “We won’t  hesitate  to sacrifice  the power for the  sake  of the people, adding that it is not so easy  to deliver  as it  requires  will power to serve the needy”.

He said that the Government  is confronted  with burgeoning problem of un-employment, adding that the Government is not  sleeping on the issue  and  very soon more avenues would be  explored  to absorb the  educated youth of the state.

Speaking on the occasion  Sardar  Showkat from Pakistan held Kashmir appreciated  the people friendly  policies of the present Government, adding that  it was the Sher – i – Kashmir late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who spearheaded the movement  against autocratic rule in the state.
