annual folk festival of Kosht concluded

 

CHITRAL: Annual 15 days Kosht folk festival concluded in a very scenic valley of Kosht of upper Chitral some 85 KM from here. The folk festival was started in first week of September where 12 teams of Polo, 42 Football teams, 18 volley Ball teams and 2 donkey polo teams participated in the festival. The final polo match Shaldeen Polo team defeated Kosht A polo team with 6 goals than 3 goals. Shaldeen Polo team score 6 goals and won champion trophy. Similarly in donkey polo match Badhilaf Shanjoran team defeated Qash Brohkagh team with 2 goals than zero because the runner up team could not score any goal. In final match of football Nojawan Kosht Football team defeated Gohkeer football team the match was finalized with penalty. Prominent figure of Chitral Captain Shahzada Sirajul Mulk was chief guest on the occasion. While a large number of non local tourists also had reached in the scenic valley to enjoy colorful events in a entire peaceful environment without any security. The players were playing with great zeal and zest on the beating of continue drums and with local folk music. As well as culture show was an important part of the festival and so many small stalls had been installed in the ground. It is worth to mention here that the organizing committee had committed for its security through their volunteer groups. Thousands of people were present in the ground on final day of the festival who enthralled from different colorful events. Addressing on the occasion Chairman of Chitral Association for Mountain Areas Tourism (CAMAT) Shahzadar Sikandarul Mulk thanked all of those who play role to finalize this event peacefully. An Islamabad based tourist Miss Nadia Qasim who along with her family specially arrived here to attend this festival told this scribe that she surprised to saw so crowd and gathering without any security. She said that I came to Chitral on first time and want to come here every year to enjoy this peaceful environment among the very hospitality of local people. She said I must suggest tourists domestic as well as foreigners to must come here and enjoy this peaceful scenario of Chitral.  At last chief guest distributed trophy and cups among the players. The speakers in their welcome address demanded for establishment of a full fledge stadium, maintenance of roads and providing them all basic facilities because the inhabitants are deprived from civic amenities.
