Annual Urs Hazrat Shah Asrar celebrated with religious fervor in Kishtwar

Kishtwar/Jammu, November 12 (Scoop News) -Thousands of devotees from all over the State and other parts of the country thronged Kishtwar to participate in a week long celebrations of annual Urs Hazrat Shah Asrar-ud-Din (RA), a great religious personality and saint of eminence of his days.

            Among the prominent persons paying obeisance at the Dargah of the great saint during the week were Governor, N.N. Vohra, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik, Minister of State for Higher Education, Aijaz Ahmad Khan, MLA Kishtwar, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo, Vice Chancellors of Jammu University and BGSB University, Rajouri.

            The Islamia Faridia Educational Institute of Science and Technology founded over 100 years back in Kishtwar in the name of the great saint Hazrat Shah Asrar-ud-Din also observed 105th foundation day during the celebrations of Urs.

            Addressing a huge congregation comprising of over 20,000 people on the occasion, Chief Minister called for character building along with capacity building in students. He said the educational institutions while imparting quality education in Science and Technology should give full attention in calculating moral values in the students.

            Omar Abdullah said “Kishtwar is becoming a centre of education” adding that the Campus of Jammu University was inaugurated and he has launched the programme of M.Sc Information Technology for the students. He also referred to the opening of Polytechnic Institution in Kishtwar and expressed the hope that the coming years would see tremendous growth in the educational activities in the area.

            The Chief Minister also expressed confidence that the Faridia Educational Institution would further flourish and expand its educational activities to enable more students to get benefit from the Institution.

            The function was presided over by the Union Minister and former Chief Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah who in his speech advised the parents to ensure proper education to their children and take best advantage of educational temperament being created in the State.

            Dr. Abdullah highlighted the amity and brotherhood prevailing in Kishtwar since ages and called for further strengthening the bonds of love between various sections of the society.

            In his welcome address, MLA Kishtwar highlighted the role of Faridia Education Institution in the field of education and nurturing youth to become educated and qualified persons to shoulder future responsibilities with ability.

            He expressed gratitude to the dignitaries for being present on the foundation day of the school and giving encouragement to the staff and the students.
