Jammu:
After interlocutors’ breach of trust for the people of Jammu and Ladakh in terms
of patriotism and nationalism’ with their childish statements for including
Pakistan’s intervention and defining J&K as disputed area, masses in Jammu
has a reason to express their anger against them besides chief minister’s ridicules
statement about accession of J&K to India, which has become a point of
shame for the entire state, to which Jammu is observing a shutdown. Over that
the silence of Obama over Kashmir has added miseries to one and all. Usually,
people in Kashmir and Jammu observe the opening day of darbar as protest
against the government of the day, because of its non-committal approach
towards the people on the basis of regional lines.
But Jammu’s largest opposition political party has decided
to observe complete strike on November 8th the opening day of
darbar, this year not only for biased attitude but also to counter the present
chief minister’s statement regarding accession of state to India. Chamber of
Commerce and Industries, Bar Association Jammu and other smaller political
associations in Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur and other districts have
extended support to shut down.
It is pertinent to mention that during Amarnath land row in
2008, people irrespective of their party inclination joined the mass agitation
to express their solidarity with the cause. Now according patriotic people and
their parties, the utterances of chief minister regarding accession have
brought the similar situation before them. Hindustan Shiv Sena, Bal Thakery
Shive Sena (Kathua), BJP, and several other like minded parties has make mind
to express their resentment against chief minister and others including union
home minister and defense minister who endorsed statement of chief minister for
their vote politics.
Keeping in view shut down call, government agencies and
departments has not changed their set programme as examination will be held as
per secluded, traffic movement will be more regulatory compared to its existing
scenario and law and order would be placed intact more firmly, as per the
directions of director general of police. So it appears that from the point of view
of government there would be no impact of shutdown call by opposition. But as
far as BJP is concerned the reports are that people by and large are willingly
supporting the call as it is question of national integrity for them as taught
to them by their political representatives.
If sources in BJP are to be believed, the shutdown call will
be endorsed with full impact as no traffic movement will appear on roads, no
shops will be found open and all the schools and colleges would be closed
completely. Going by the Shiv Sena itinerary, “all people will come forward and
make the shutdown a success and those not abiding would be dealt later” its
chief announced.
It is important to mention that Panthers party is organizing
separately Jammu bandh on next day. As earlier, discontented with state unit of
BJP, JKNPP chief Prof Bhim Singh has urged union leadership of BJP to close state
unite for being hand in glove with ruling coalition for various activities amounting
against the interests of people of Jammu.
