New Delhi, May 14 (IANS) As Myanmar battles to tackle the devastation caused by cyclone Nargis that killed over 34,000 people, another storm is heading towards the country, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said Wednesday.
The department, which also works as a regional special station for World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), has issued an advisory to this effect. There is a ‘Low pressure area over east central Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Myanmar’, the IMD advisory states. In association with the low pressure area, Myanmar will receive scattered to broken medium clouds with embedded moderate to intense convective clouds over in the southwestern part of the country, it added. Myanmar is struggling to cope with the major devastation caused by the May 2 cyclone. Though the country has put the death toll as over 34,000 till date, the UN has already warned that it could exceed 100,000.
