Srinagar, March 31 (Scoop News) –Anti-tobacco squad constituted by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon comprising of representatives from Health, Police and Drug & Food Control Organisation headed by Shabir Ahmed Lone inspected various public places including Bone & Joint Hospital Barzulla, Lal Ded Hospital, Engineering Complex Rajbagh, JKPCC, Pollution Control Board, Rajbagh, Srinagar Municipal Corporation and caught 32 persons smoking.
The team also raided shops selling cigarettes within 100 yards of Educational Institutions at Presentation Convent School Rajbagh, DAV School Jawahar Nagar, Government Polytechnic for Boys, Gogjibagh, New Convent School Gogjibagh.
The shopkeepers were served notices and fine was also imposed. The Cigarettes were confiscated and destroyed.
During the current financial year an amount of Rs 28,000 has been recovered as fine from 177 persons caught smoking in public places, in Srinagar City.
