Srinagar, October 24 (Scoop News) –. All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq described the visit of the interlocutors appointed by India to the Kashmir as a futile exercise and rejected to hold talks with them.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was addressing a press conference in Srinagar, today, after presiding over a meeting of the APHC’s Executive Committee including Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Bilal Gani Lone etc and General Council said that the dispute could be resolved through tripartite talks involving Pakistan, India and the genuine Kashmiri leadership. He hoped that the US President, Barack Obama would press the Indian leadership during his forthcoming visit to the country to settle the dispute.
He has also appealed to the international community to play an effective role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
The Mirwaiz also launched a valley-wide signature campaign at the end of which the document with signatures would be forwarded to President Obama in the form of a memorandum through the US Embassy in New Delhi. Mukhtar Ahmad Waza will lead the signature campaign from Islamabad district likely. He urged the people to make the march towards the United Nations Observers’ Office at Sonawar on October 27 a success. It was on October 27 in 1947 when India invaded Jammu and Kashmir contrary to the Kashmiris’ wishes and the principles of the partition plan of South Asian Subcontinent.
In the meantime Mukhtar Waza also condemned the arrest of Hurriyat leaders and activists from APHC headquarters termed it government frustration. He appeals the People of Jammu and Kashmir to make the signature campaign successful.
