where are all the fools gone
Where are all the fools gone By Manmit? In our school days1 April was looked upon as a dreadful day. They were actually fun filled days as we started planning our practical jokes and tried to arm ourselves with several things to scare somebody with lizard or a flower filled with red chili or a box which when opens blackens the person Invent new ideas to make fool even the passers by. But now it is almost years that we heard somebody say it’s a fools day Or To hear the embarrassed shriek of a classmate who says o’god you scared me to death Or hear somebody say there is cockroach in your backpack .Or your shirt is torn Reminiscing the days Says a mother of 2year old April fool was day looked upon by our gang we used to play harmless pranks like pasting” I m a fool “on our friends back or giving him an empty gift pack it was embarrassing for the other and fun for us or shouting watch out there is a snake But now days the fun the playfulness is missing Children take this day half heartedly their mind is occupied with something else But there is history to this day Going back to the history pages April fools day is celebrated annually on 1day of April Its time of traditional playing of pranks on unsuspecting people – the victim of such prank being called April fool .The origins of this custom are somewhat uncertain but may have initially been related to arrival of spring in late march at which time mother nature is said to fool the human race with sudden and fickle changes in weather showers one minute and sunshine the other The playing of practical jokes dates back to ancient Rome and such activities were an integral part of hilaria celebrations held on march 25 a celebration which would again appear to be associated with the coming of spring and vernal equinox held to honor the resurrection of Attis Roman god of vegetation who was linked to the seasonal cycle In England an ancient legend states that April fools day commemorates the fruitless mission of the Rook(European crow )which was sent out in search of land from Noah’s flood circled Arc The April fools day should be enjoyed and the tradition should be maintained loaded with harmless pranks so that it can enjoyed especially on the person it is played upon |
