. The workshop was organized by Traditional Archery Society of Ladakh in collaboration with culture Academy, Leh funded by LAHDC Leh.
Appreciating the organizer for reviewing the centuries old traditional archery sports, CEC announced Rupees fifty thousand financial assistance from his CCDF fund for promotion of the sports and said that traditional archery is not an expensive sport, it can be organized easily at community levels but such initiation is required with enthusiastic attitude. Said CEC. Spalbar urged TASOL to act as an apex organization by encouraging and helping other archery organizations of Ladkah so that this popular game will once again flourish at its peak.
During the workshop International level archery players like Tsering Motup Tangtse, Nawang Deleks and Skarma Tundup of Durbuk will impart basic traditional archery along with modern archery skills to the participants from 22 villages around Leh.
Earlier, Culture Academy Special Officer Tsewang Paljor in his welcome speech said that purpose of organizing the event is to impart basic knowledge about archery so that the participants can disseminate the knowledge at village and community level to spread the awareness particularly among the younger generation to review the centuries old famous sports of Ladakh the traditional Archery.
On the occasion Executive Councilor for Tourism Gurmet Dorjay in his speech appreciated the participants for taking interest in the sports and said that archery is an important part of Ladakhi Cultural Heritage and onus is lies on all to review the fading practice.
While highlighting the importance of Traditional Archery, Instructor Nawang Deleks in his speech assured to extend his best possible support to all enthusiastic participants.
