was reading this article on Bangalore Mirror about how the cell phone of one of the journalist was taken away for 3 days… the article went on to describe her 3 days without her cell and needless to say, it was a harrowing experience for her…
but think about it, its the same case with most of us, if not all…. we’ve become total slaves to technology… there’s not a minute we can live without gadgets and technology… leave aside the fact that we’re in an IT industry and that we’re a part of the ‘technology’…
from the time we wake up… to the time we’re in bed, technology and gadgets assist us in every walk of our life…
alarm clocks are passe…. mobile phones double up as alarm clocks… also, the old ‘brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
rrrrrnnnnnnng’ of the alarm clock has been replaced by a song; thanks to technology…
the few mins after waking up is probably the only few mins that we dont use tech too much… i mean how much of technology can u put in the bathroom… barring the electric shaver… and probably all those fancy shower things which is anyway far from the common man’s reach…
and then, for breakfast, use the Microwave to thaw some packed food that was being preserved in the Fridge
get dressed listening to the music from the audio system… which is not the audio system of yesteryears… DVD, FM, 3000W, Worldspace, the works… audio systems arent the same as before…
if you’re travelling to office by bus, an iPod or any other MP3 player is a necessity… mobile phones are now doubling up as MP3 players and if you’re travelling by car… u’re surrounded by technology… remote locking, power windows, ABS, dual airbags, GPS, DVD entertainment system with an LCD screen replacing the rearview mirror…
then u’re in office, which is brimming over with technology… hi end computers, laptops, VoIPs, VConf, projectors and the list is endless…
back home in the evening, relax to the comfort of watching your favourite tv programmes on the LCD or the plasma TV coupled with a DTH receiver and a DVD player and equipped with a 5.1 home theatre system…
and then when u finally retire for the day, the AC wakes up while u go to sleep…
all through the time i was writing this blog, i was trying to think of a time when technology doesnt interfere in anyway and there wasnt one single instance i could come up with… are there any???
