Are You A Humble Person Or Do You Carry A Chip On Your Shoulder?

Are you a humble person or do you carry a chip on your shoulder and dare someone to knock it off?

There are many people in today’s society who believe being humble is a form of weakness; and if they practice humility, it’s a form of not being a self-starter and they’re not concerned about achieving any goals.

People I’m a believer in God’s word where in the Holy Bible, King James Version, and in The New Testament in The First Epistle of Peter, (1 Peter 5: 6-7), it tells people “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you.”

Whenever a person is in constant communication with God and puts their concerns in His hands, God will take care of them and provide their needs. When people humble themselves before God that is when they can truly worship and praise Him for all that He does for them on a daily basis.

People live in the fast-lane in their lives running here and there to work and to accomplish duties; solving necessary problems; paying bills; running children to social activities; all required to keep their families on track to prosper and strive to reach a specific desired goal. They become tired and exhausted after the day to day grind and many times they lose touch with their families, their lives and reality.

In the Holy Bible, King James Version, and in The New Testament in Gospel of Matthew 11: 28-30, “Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

These verses allowed me to realize that Jesus does not want people to live in a state of anxiousness and weariness after they’ve accepted Him into their lives; but He wants people to lean on Him through prayer; His word, and not to take on all the burdens of life by themselves. People must rely and have faith in God’s word and trust him for them to have a smooth and more efficient life. They’re not supposed to carry the weight of the world around on their shoulders like they’re the only ones that can do it. Give it up to God and see the difference it’ll make in your life.

People need to turn their eyes toward God as His word tells them in The New Testament and in The Epistle of Paul in Philippians 4: 4-7, it tells people, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice; let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God; and the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

People must humble themselves and allow God to know that they trust and believe in Him and His word. I’m not ashamed to be humbled and I’m not ashamed to humble myself before God because I trust and have faith in His word and in Him. My life is not workable without God and I give Him praise for His workings in my life.

It’s my opinion that Jesus is the “real” example of humility; after all, out of the obedience of His Father, He humbled Himself as He carried His own cross to the point of His death; and because of this, God exalted Jesus just like He will exalt people. (1 Peter 5: 6-7)

I’ll never consider humility as a weakness; in fact, I believe it has made a much better life for me throughout my entire life; it was the power I needed to move forward. How could I deny humility when Jesus suffer His death on the cross for me, gave His life so I could have an eternal life through the acceptance of Him into my life? Jesus suffered cruel and horrendous acts against Him and He showed “no” signs of being ashamed or humiliated? Jesus is the “true” example of humility!

It’s my opinion that no matter what I face in life, I’ll humble myself before God and pray for all of my anxieties and problems to be given up to Him because I trust and have faith in Him for I know He is with me. I’ll leave any pride at my doorstep.
