Arizona Cardinals outside linebacker John Abraham placed on the injured reserved list

Tempe Arizona. The Arizona Cardinals announced on Friday they have placed on the injured reserved list outside linebacker John Abraham, 36.

Abraham will not be able to play football this season due to a concussion injury he suffered in the first week of the 2014 regular football season in the Cardinals 18-17 win over the San Diego Chargers.

Abraham has not recovered from his head injury. The Cardinals have made a wise decision placing Abraham on the injured reserved list since they feel they do not need to play a football player who has not completely recovered from his concussion injury.

The Cardinals will likely replace Abraham on the 53 player roster with a player from the practice team or free agency. Abraham will be a free agent at the end of the 2014 football season.

Abraham made his National Football League debut with the New York Jets in 2000. Abraham has played professional football with the Jets, Atlanta Falcons and the Arizona Cardinals in the fifteen years of service in the league.

The Cardinals (2-0) will be hosting their National Football League Conference rivals the San Francisco 49ers (1-1) on Sunday September 21 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale Arizona.

It remains to be seen if Abraham will decide to walk away from the National Football League at the end of the current football season. His other option would be to try out for the Cardinals or  another football team in 2015. It is likely that Abraham will call it a career in the National Football League after the end of this football season since he would be wise to be able to live a healthy life outside of football.
