Jammu, November 19 (Scoop News) –The group of 23 school children hailing from Dori and Dager villages of of Akhnoor Tehsil of J&K who had proceeded on a week-long Educational-cum-Motivational tour to Kolkata on November 15, reached Kolkata on November 17.
The children had set off for Kolkata on the tour being conducted as part of the Army’s ongoing ‘Op Sadbhavna’, aimed at giving the hailing from the remote regions of J&K, an opportunity to discover and experience the other parts of our nation, the thought foremost on their minds was, the first ever train ride of their lives, that they would soon be experiencing.
On their reaching Kolkata on Saturday, barely had the excitement in the children’s minds got over, where an even bigger surprise awaited them. The Indian Navy that has three warships presently berthed in Kidderpore Docks since Friday, as a part of the `Navy Week’ celebrations, facilitated the visit of these J&K children to the Indian Navy warships.
“The visit to the Indian Navy Warship was an opportunity of a life-time, an experience beyond their wildest dreams, and left an everlasting impression on the minds of the young children" said Major Rajesh Dogra, the officer accompanying the children on the tour. The children, who are in Kolkata till 23 November, will also visit various places of historical interest and major landmarks, in and around the city, besides getting an opportunity to interact with senior army officials, and families and children from the civil society.
