Wuzur(Qaziqund): In an attempt to promote the spirit of adventure and connecting the local youth with nature and beauty of Kashmir Valley, a trekking expedition was organised by 9 Rashtriya Rifles (RAJ RIF) and INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) under the aegis of Headquarters 2 Sector Rashtriya Rifles/Victor Force from DK Marg to Wuzur from 18 to 24 December 2011. The expedition, comprising of 15 participants of Kulgam District trekked over the Shishtdhari ridge and visited the areas of DK Marg, DH Pura, Chawalgam, Devsar & Waltingu. The tour finally arrived at its final destination of Wuzur after negotiating snow clad ridgelines & Galis.
The tour was flagged off from DK Marg valley amidst cheers and joy. This adventurous excursion, included various entertainment and motivational programmes organised by 9 Rashtriya Rifles (RAJRIF) during the expedition at various places. The participants moved Cross-Country, climbing mountains & also enjoyed the flora and fauna along the Vishwa River. The tour members were exposed to various mountain climbing skills, rappling, tent pitching competition and other extra curricular activities during the course of trekking tour.
Commander 2 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Brigadier Sanjay Gupta flagged in the tour at Wuzur on 24 December 2011, who congratulated children on the successful completion of trekking expedition and promised to organise more such expedition in future. The grand culmination ceremony was marked by the presence of a number of civil dignitaries and parents of tour children who expressed their gratitude towards Army for taking such initiatives to boast overall development of the children in Kulgam District.
