Jammu, July 26 (Scoop News)-The nation celebrates 26 July as Kargil Vijay Diwas to pay tributes to its martyrs and brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice, during ‘Operation Vijay’ defending every inch of its territory, and giving the enemy a befitting reply and a bloodied nose as well. This day is a reminder of the tremendous sacrifices made by Indian soldiers in the service of the motherland, by flushing out the enemy from our territory. It was on this day when Indian Army, with its tremendous courage, indomitable spirit and unmatched valour, inflicted total defeat on Pakistan.
To commemorate the 14th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Maj Gen Rustam Patnaik, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, the General Officer Commanding, Crossed Swords Division and all troops of the force paid floral tributes to the martyrs and brave soldiers with a solemn wreath laying ceremony held at the Crossed Swords Division War Memorial at Akhnoor Garrison. The notes of the bugle playing the `Last-Post’ were a testimony to the valour and the supreme sacrifice of those martyrs and brought back solemn memories of those days.
Reiterating the commitment of the Indian Army towards maintaining security, honour and dignity of the country, he added that “As we honour these heroes today, we pledge once again, to uphold the sacred values of our Republic and to serve our Motherland with courage, loyalty and utmost dedication, even at the cost of our very lives”.
