Jammu, July 15 (Scoop News) – Maj Amit Thenge who sacrificed his life while fighting with terrorists in Mander in Poonch district, was given a hero’s farewell, by Army in Jammu.
A wreath laying ceremony was observed today at 16 Corps Engineering Signal Regiment location in Jammu to pay homage to Maj Amit Thenge of 37 Rashtrya Rifles who laid down his life while battling with terrorists in Medhar Sector of Poonch district in Jammu region.
The tri colour warpped coffin of the brave officer arrived from Rajouri to Jammu by road today morning.
Lt Gen Rameshwar Roy, GOC 16 Corps, Maj Gen RH Vardhan, Chief of Staff, 16 Corps,. A Gupta, IGP Jammu and a number of senior officers of the Army, Police and CRPF laid wreaths during the ceremony.
The mortal remains were flown to his home town Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh today where a funeral with full military honours will be conducted.
