Army saves lives of Bosgay village in Gurez-Scoop News

Bandipur /Srinagar, August 03 (Scoop News)- Five houses and 6 Cow sheds were gutted in the fire in this small hamlet Bosgai Village, Tehsil-Gurez, Distt-Bandipur close to Line of Control on Friday night.Fire broke out in the house of Mohd Anwar Khan son of Rasool Khan resident of Bosgai Village.

According to the residents, the fire broke out in the kitchen of one of the houses and immediately spread to the nearby houses. A total of Five houses and 6 Cow sheds were completely engulfed in the fire in this small hamlet close to Line of Control.

Eyewitness said that troops of an Infantry sub unit located at close to the village saw smoke and flames and promptly dispatched a party with firefighting equipment to the village to control the spread of fire. Army troops assisted in taking out household items and cordoned the houses to prevent the spread of fire to neighbouring houses. As a result the fire was brought under control and could be doused in two hours.

They said that the prompt reaction by Army troops resulted in prevention of spread of fire to neighbouring areas and ensured no loss/injury to human life.

However, about 25 sheep/goats and few cattle were engulfed in this fire. To provide rehabilitation and succor, the Army immediately provided tents as an alternative for accommodation and necessary rations to the aggrieved families in this hour of need.

Meanwhile Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi today directed the District Development Commissioner, Bandipora to send a team of officers to Bosgay village of Tehsil Gurez to assess the losses caused to public property due to yesterday’s fire incident in which 5 houses and 6 Cow sheds were gutted.

Expressing sympathies with the effected families, Mr Gurezi assured of every possible help to the victims by the government.
