Army sets up various facilities for displaced people affected by Pak shelling

Jammu, August 26,(Scoop News)-Indian Army’s Tiger Division upholding its values has come to the aid of the peoples of Jammu in RS Pura,Arnia and Ramgarh, the areas which witnessed heavy shelling from across the border for past fortnight.

A defence spokesman said, a total of 11 teams of the Army in c with civil administration provided medical, tentage, food, water and temporary sanitary facilities including distribution of toiletry items to over 3000 civilians primarily women,children and elderly affected by the ongoing cross border firing by Pakistan in RS Pura, Arnia and Ramgarh Sectors.

He said the civilians are living in over 11 camps established by the civil administration in RS Pura – Dablehar, Devigarh, Salehar (Two camps), Rehal, Ramgarh and Habtal.

The army team also included nine women officers, four lady medical officers who specifically addressed the needs and medical care of large number of women and children.

The spokesman said children residing in the various camps established by civil administration were also provided with sports equipment to keep them
engaged and motivated. At some camps Government teachers were also motivated to take classes for displaced children.

The local populace whole heartedly appreciated the efforts of the Army and civil administration. The relief measures will continue till the border situation normalizes.

In addition to providing relief the border population was also made aware of actions and precautions to be taken against enemy shelling and firing.
