Microsoft is preparing for the next release of ASP.NET MVC. The first preview is available for the .net developer for testing on Microsoft Download Center. Analysts say the Redmond-Washington firm is making attempts to get as much feedback as possible from developers with the release.
Corporate VP of the .Net Developer Platform at the software giant said ASP.NET MVC 3 and ASP.NET MVC are compatible so that it is fairly easy to update when the final version is released. In addition, the MVC3 network is built on the same foundation as its predecessors MVC 1 & 2. This translates to the direct application of knowledge, skills, books and libraries that have been acquired to MVC3.
Those who adapt MVC3 early on will quickly notice the wide array of improvements from the previous version. Some of the new changes include view-specific enhancements, the ‘Razor View’ Engine, Java Script and AJAX improvements, and Controller improvements.
Incidentally, The MVC3 version may be installed and used along with the MVC2 version, while installing the Preview 1 release on a PC. This should have no effect on the existing projects that are under progress. It will continue to use MVC2 until specific directions are given. When Preview 1 installed, a new batch of templates for MVC3 will appear in the Visual studio’s ‘New Project’ dialog. This should shift gears for the new project to be used with MVC3.
With the development of the latest version 3, Microsoft has promised that more features will be introduced into the next phase of ASP.NET MVC.
