Atlanta Georgia. On Monday Atlanta Braves team president John Schuerholz terminated his general manager Frank Wren. Wren succeeded Schuerholz as the general manager of the Braves after the end of the 2007 baseball season.
The Braves have appointed former Texas Rangers and Cleveland Indians general manager John Hart as the interim general manager of the team for the remainder of the current baseball season which will end on September 28 2014.
Since the Braves will not be making a playoff appearance this baseball season, the Braves management which will consist of former Braves manager Bobby Cox, Schuerholz and Hart will form a committee to find the next general manager who will have to make the decision to either fire field manager Fredi Gonzalez and some if not all of his coaches at the end of the current baseball season or retain Gonzalez or some if not all of his coaches on his staff next baseball season.
Gonzalez has managed the Braves since the 2011 Major League Baseball season. Gonzalez succeed Bobby Cox in October 2010 after Cox retired as the Braves manager after he managed the Braves for 21 seasons.
Cox is the only manager in the history of the Atlanta Braves franchise to win a World Series title with the 1995 team that beat the Cleveland Indians four games to two.
The Braves management will be doing their best to find a new general manager to assemble a team that will have them back in pennant contention next season.
