Aung San Suu Kyi says Nepal Moving ahead in its peace process

Aung San Suu Kyi on her recent visit to Nepal lauded that Nepal has been more democratic in terms of its political and constitution making process. Speaking at a gathering of “Future of Social Democracy” at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Suu Kyi said, “Nepal has well managed its state resources in terms of sustaining peace and conflict.”

Sharing her experience and struggle, Suu Kyi said, “Peace and conflict are essential part of the management of any country in terms of development and sustainability. In any situation of conflict the judiciary, the army and the political system plays a crucial role. So professionalism and democratic governance in system is a must that can help curb hindrances.

Suu Kyi expressed General elections are the democratic means of knowing people’s aspiration and it should be fulfilled understanding public aspiration and voices. Nepal and Myanmar are going through a political transition as both countries are in the process of drafting new constitutions. But due to professionalism and more democratic approaches, she said Nepal was ahead and hoped soon Nepal would have a new constitution and fulfill its mandate of the Peace process.
