November 13, 2010 (Saturday) is a special day for Burmese people. It was the first time the greatest news from Burma was heard. The leader of National League for Democracy (NLD), Aung San Suu Kyi, also called Mother Su by Burmese people, was released just five days after the first election since 1990. The result of the election is also quite predictable that the military junta will win. However, Burmese people still rely on her since they have faith that she has the power to change the country under the military junta since 1962.
She is powerful. Her powerful speeches can touch people’s hearts not only inside Burma but also around the world. The Live Station from the Democratic Voice of Burma broadcasts the first official speech of Aung San Suu Kyi after her release on this Saturday which was given at midday of November, 14, 2010. The excerpt from her speech is “I would not say [to the government] that ‘do something for the people of Burma, do something for the people of Burma’. There are things that people have to do that for their country too. I just want to say just to give us the chance to do something together.” She is a critical political activist for democracy of Burma in such a way that her words are realistic, unbiased and non-violent.
The current President of the United States, Barak Obama also see the hope for Burma as he states that “She is a hero of mine and a source of inspiration for all who work to advance basic human rights in Burma and around the world.” (CNN Saturday, 13 Nov 2010)
According to the recent news from Democratic Voice of Burma, Aung San Suu Kyi has been willing to hear the voices from the public within her years of house arrest. She is apparently not working for her own sake; it is for the people of her beloved country.
All Burmese people are looking forward her next speech at Shwe Gone Dine, as it is reported. All are longing for the change that she can make. The hope of Burmese people for democracy has risen again.
