Australia won a thrilling final test match against the opponents South Africa on the last day, but the series came to an end with a 1-2 loss to Australia in their home ground. The game witnessed great excitement and finally it was Australia who had the last laugh at the end day’s play. The scoreboard stood as follows:
Australia 445 and 4 for 257 dec beat South Africa 327 and 272 (Amla 59, de Villiers 56, Siddle 3-54) by 103 runs.
South African captain proved his bravery by coming down to the pitch despite a broken left hand and a sore right elbow. He survived for 29 balls but ultimately got out by a superb delivery by Mitchell Johnson. The game could have had been saved if proteas would have had played 10 more balls.
Overall, the whole series witnessed great superior performance by South Africa while final test match showed ‘Never say die’ spirit of the Aussies.
