Autism Welfare Foundation (AWF), an organization working closely for nearly half a decade to raise awareness of autism and help autistic children and their guardian with educational and training support, is going to observe World Autism Awareness Day and its 5th anniversary on Thursday, 02 April 2009. On this occasion, a cultural program to be participated by teachers and students of AWF will take place at Shwaokat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library, Shahbag, Dhaka.
Mr. Enamul Haque Mostofa Shahid, honorable Minister, Ministry of Social Welfare will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Ms. Qamrunnesa Khanam, Secretary to the Ministry of Social Welfare; Mr. Mansur Ahmed Chowdhury, Executive Director, National Foundation for the Development of Disabled Persons (NFDDP); Mr. Khandoker Jahurul Alam, President, National Forum for the Disabled Person; popular writer and scientist Mr. Md. Jafar Iqbal will also attend the program as Special Guests with other eminent personalities.
As part of the anniversary observance, a two-day handicraft fair is take place on the 3rd and 4rth of June at the AFW premises `Kanan’ (House- 38/40, R-04, Bloc- B, Pici Culture Housing Society, Mohammadpur, Dhaka-1207). The fair will display crafts all hand made by the student of Kanan, the education center run by the Foundation and it will remain open from 10 am to 5 pm
