Avalanche warning, to Gurez snow bound areas

Srinagar,February 28 (Scoop News) –   A medium danger avalanche warning has been issued for snow bound areas of Gurez.            

People living above the height of 8,000 feet in Gurez have been advised not to venture in avalanche prone areas and to take precautionary measures. The warning is valid to next 24 hours.

It may be mentioned here that eighteen army soldiers, including five junior commissioned officers (JCOs) were killed in two avalanche tragedies in north Kashmir‘s Ganderbal and Bandipora districts Thursday. The avalanche damaged around 25 army vehicles and 17 barracks, inside the Brigade workshop.
