Giving details of the case SP Awantipora Mohammad Irshad said that on 26.09.2011 a youth Bilal Ahmad Seyam @ Iqbal son of Mohammad Shafi Seyam resident of Mazmooh, Qazigund was found hanging to a walnut tree in the outskirts of village Aligund.
During the investigation, it was found that the deceased used to live with Bashir Ahmad Famda resident of Khurhama, Lolab, at present Aligund Awantipora. The deceased was a student and a part-time labourer by profession and while staying with the family of the Bashir Ahmad Famda, he developed affair with his daughter.
The duo wanted to get married, but the parents and the brother of the girl were not interested and got engaged their daughter to Rafiq Ahmad Awan resident of Qazigund. The deceased objected to the act and adamantly insisted for the marriage with the girl.
During the intervening night of 25/26-09-2011, four persons Farooq Ahmad Famda son of Bashir Ahmad Famda resident of Lolab at present Aligund Awantipora, Aijaz Ahmad Awan son of Abdul Rashid Awan, Manzoor Ahmad Deda son-in-law of Nazir Ahmad Awan and Gulzar Ahmad Mugal son of Deen Mohammad Mugal residents of Malikabad, Qazigund hatched a criminal conspiracy to eliminate Iqbal.
They called the deceased to the house of Bashir Famda and executed their ill design by strangulating him to death. They later took the dead body and hanged it to a walnut tree in a nearby orchard. They placed his slippers near the tree in such a position that gave an impression that the deceased has committed suicide.
The accused tried to mislead the police by giving false impression of suicide behind the death of the youth, however, by effective investigation of Awantipora Police, actual facts emerged to the surface and the culprits were arrested.
