CHITRAL: Religious and Social circles have shown their concern over the activities of AWAZ program in Chitral. AWAZ program, a subsidiary of South Asia Partnership Pakistan (SAP-PK) has launched its political awareness and women’s right activities in different part of Chitral.  The religious and social circles opined that AWAZ was creating discomfort in society while trying to induce women to raise voice against local cultural values and ways. They said in Drosh area the organization carried out activities where the local women were told that men domination was main hurdle in changing the living standards of women, therefore women folk should come forth to take their rights. They said that all this was not acceptable in an area like Chitral. The social and religious circles added that NGOs should take practical steps for development of this backward area but these organizations would not be allowed to devastate the cultural values and way of life. They have demanded the district administration to take notice of the activities of AWAZ program and make sure there are no such activities which would create tension in our peaceful area.
