Costa Rica in Central America is one of the best places to go to for a holiday. The country is blessed with wonderful forests, beaches, waterfalls, volcanoes and the like. The majority Spanish speaking populace is very tourist friendly and you will enjoy your time here. If you love adventure or if you love sailing or if you love to fish or if you are into rock climbing or if you just love to laze about – whatever your passion – the country has something for everyone.
I am one of the lucky ones to travel to Costa Rica on a holiday and the following are some of the awesome things I did and I hope it will inspire you to travel here.
Learnt Spanish:
Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world after Mandarin Chinese. There are many places where you can learn Spanish but learning Spanish in a Spanish speaking nation is something that you should do. I knew some basic Spanish but I wanted to learn the language from Spanish speaking professionals. When I had the chance to go for a holiday, I immediately opted for Costa Rica as I had come across some advertisements that were headlined, “Learn Spanish in Costa Rica” and I was impressed. I planned my holiday in such a way that I was able to learn Spanish as well as take in the sights of the country.
Enjoyed Horse Riding:
I just love horses. Give me a horse and I will ride. Horses hold a special place in my life. Right from my childhood, I have spent time with horses in the ranch, so I am quite comfortable with them. Another reason why I chose Costa Rica for my holiday was due to the horse riding tours that are quite common there. It is a little costly but riding a horse gives me a lot of pleasure, so riding a horse and viewing the landscapes of this beautiful country was an experience which I shall never forget during this lifetime.
Went Ziplining:
I have wanted to do some ziplining for quite some time now. I am not too scared of heights but yes, if the height is too much then I do get attacks of vertigo, which however dissipate over time. When I was planning for the holidays, I heard that Costa Rica had some great zipline tours and I wanted to spend some time doing it. All tourists go for zip-lining tours when they visit Costa Rica. Costa Rica provides you some wonderful views and very long cables so that you can enjoy the scenery. However, for the ones who do not like heights then there are canopy tours where the distance is not that much, but you can enjoy the thrill of ziplining.
Played Golf:
Golf is a game that I really like. It is a game which teaches a lot of things. I am a decent golfer and golf whenever I find the time. I found a few golf courses in Costa Rica and once I saw them it was but natural for me to practice my driving and putting skills. I was able to play a few 9 holes and a couple of 18 hole matches with a few tourists who also happened to visit the course. It was a lot of fun.
Rode The Waves:
I surf when I get the time and it had been a long time since I surfed. Costa Rica is supposed to be the best place to surf in the whole of Latin America and I was not going to miss out on something as special as that. Initially my form was not good, but I found my bearings and within a few minutes I was riding the waves like the pro I am. I could see a lot of tourists signing up for surfing lessons and I was also informed that many tourists came to Costa Rica on surf vacations.
I Hiked And I Biked:
I love to experience new trails and while in Costa Rica was it ever possible for me not to go hiking. The dense jungles, the trails that take you to a volcano were all experienced by me. I also hired a mountain bike and biked to my heart’s content.
I Cruised On The Pacific:
The Pacific side of Costa Rica has a lot to offer for people who love cruises. There are cruises on the Caribbean side too but the sunset cruise on the Pacific is something worth paying for. You also have the option of snorkeling and usually drinks and snacks are served on the cruise. You can get to see dolphins and if you are traveling in the right season then you have the chance of witnessing whales and other wonderful sea animals.
