Jammu,September 5(Scoop News) -Former Registrar Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology Jammu and Prominent Writer, Poet, Painter & Scholar Dr. Ayaz Rasool Nazki been appointed as the Regional Director of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under Ministry of External Affairs , Government of India, New Delhi. He will head Kashmir Office of ICCR.
Author of more than one dozen books in English , Urdu and Kashmir Dr. Nazki has contributed hundreds of research papers on different aspects of Kashmir Culture to National and International journals.
Being a Founder Registrar of Baba Ghulam shah Badshah University Dr Nazki was instrumental in creating viable infrastructure for the University.
He has already presented his papers in various countries, which included Iran London, Arab Countries , Rome (Italy) , Pakistan , and others.
Son of Nationally acclaimed Urdu and Kashmiri poet and broadcaster Mir Ghulam Rasool Nazki , Dr Nazki has a hold on literature of at least five languages.
Dr Nazki, who had his education in Science at Andhra Pradesh and Punjab Agriculture Universities, worked as a scientist and teacher in the Agricultural University, first at Kashmir and later on at Jammu and he is having a rich administrative experience.
A rare achievement that came his way was the publication of a special issue on his poetry by the highly reputed eighty year old UrduJournal ‘Shair’ (Mumbai).Dr Nazki’s two Urdu poetry collections have been studied by scholars for award of M.Phil Degree.
He is on the advisory board of number prestigious Institutions of the country and state including top organization of Kashmiri that is Adbi Markaz Kamraz, an umbrella organization of NGOs working in the field of literature and art.
Dr. Nazki also scripted a number of serials , documentaries on Kashmir culture and heritage for ‘All India Radio’ and ‘DoorDarshan’.
Dr. Nazki has mainly focused his attention to locating, identifying, restoring, studying and reporting of old manuscripts written in the past in Kashmir.He has been able to collect thousands of pages in different stages of deterioration from households in the valley.
Dr. Nazki’s appointment as the Regional Director of ICCR has been widely welcomed by all the artists, writers, performers & the art & cultural institutions of Jammu and Kashmir.
His appointment as the Regional Director of ICCR is seen as major cultural development on the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
