Azad appreciates women for effectively managing credit cooperatives

Jammu, November 06(Scoop News) –  As a part of celebration of year 2012 as International year for cooperative movement, a women cooperative conference was organized at Dyalachack which witnessed an overwhelming participation of womenfolk.

            Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad, was the chief guest on the occasion.

            Addressing the Conference, Azad appreciated the womenfolk for effectively managing the women credit cooperative limited and encouraged them  to further increase their membership in this micro-credit institution. He also appealed the women with good financial status to deposit more and more in the society to help poor women with micro-credit ranging from Rs 5000 to Rs 50,000 through this institution.

            Azad appreciated the massive participation of female fraternity in the conference and appealed them to channelize their energies towards societal development. He also exhorted upon them to equally participate in political and economical affairs besides their household chores.

            Quoting examples of Indira Gandhi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, female Chief Ministers and other women leader world over, he asked the women to get inspiration from those great personalities and move forward with added enthusiasm. He said that God has blessed the women with tremendous endurance and strength which can be utilized for greater women emancipation. He exhorted upon the females to come forward and work towards economical empowerment of their households.

            Azad also highlighted various health schemes launched by Govt of India for benefit of pregnant females, adolescent girls besides mother-child care. He appealed the females to get in touch with ASHAs to know more about the benefits of such schemes.

            Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Minister of State for Cooperative, Finance & Planning, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, MOS for Power, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Member Parliament, Ch. Lal Singh and MLC, Subash Gupta also addressed the conference.

            Tara Chand appreciated the role of women in this micro-credit cooperative society and said that this is a glowing example of participation of women and their wonderful management skills. Lauding the efforts of the women folk he said that the congress party has always aimed towards Women empowerment.

             Lal Singh appealed the women folk to make cooperatives a successful movement.

 Speaking on the occasion, Manohar Lal Sharma highlighted the cooperative movement in the state and told that till date it has membership of 12662 women with a share capital of Rs.126.56 lakh with 33 branches in five districts of Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Jammu and Poonch. Besides, a loan Rs 2 crore 62 lakh has been advanced to 1284 beneficiaries. He said that soon this women credit cooperative limited will suffice the criteria laid down by RBI for registration.

             Others present on the occasion were registrar Cooperative department J&K, Sudershan Sharma and District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Zahida Parveen Khan.
