A tenth-month old baby died from falling into the River Thames. Monica parsons, from Streatley. West Berkshire, fell into the river near to Goring while her family were feeding ducks. The death of the child is not explained but the police are still investigating the incident.
Her mother and sister had plunged into the river but they survived.
Monica was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford after being pulled out of the river where she died.
The girl was clung to life for hours in a critical condition.
There have been other reports of how the accident happened.
One man lives close to the scene and had said the baby’s buggy was blown into the water by strong winds as the mother had pushed it.
Police cannot confirm the exact story to the incident other than the child falling from the bank into the river near Ferry Lane in Goring.
Police have cordoned off many parts from the scene. A man said he had gotten of his boat to help.
Pete West, 26, of Goring, said: “I didn’t see the incident but heard that the baby as pushed by the buggy and it was blown into the river by strong winds. The mother then went into the river to rescue the child.
A spokesman for oxford Radcliffe Hospital said: “After a long time of resuscitation, a decision was made by the clinical team to stop the treatment. The child had shown very fragile signs of life.
