More than 1.9 million tourists visited Indonesia in the first four months of 2009, up 1,5 percent from the same period last year, a tourism official said. The increase suggested the Indonesian tourism industry was immune to the impact of the global financial crisis, Director General of Marketing at the Culture and Tourism Ministry Sapta Nirwandar said.
“We should thank God that amid the global economic crisis, the Indonesian tourism industry grew as expected,” Sapta said.
