Awami League president and Prime Minister-designate Sheikh Hasina yesterday condemned the killings of innocent civilians in Gaza Strip in Palestine by the Israeli forces over the last few days.
The Awami League chief made the condemnation when the envoys of seven Arab states, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Kuwait, Libya and Qatar, called on her at her Sudha Sadan residence at Dhanmondi in the city.
Briefing reporters, Awami League Advisory Council member ambassador Mohammad Zamir said Sheikh Hasina and the envoys of the Arab states hoped that the "brotherly relationship" between Bangladesh and the Muslim countries would be strengthened in the coming days.
The Arab envoys to recruit more workforce from Bangladesh ensuring necessary facilities for Bangladeshi expatriate workers in those countries she added.
She expressed her profound shock over the death of huge innocent civilians in the aggression.
During the conversation, Sheikh Hasina stressed the need for an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression and called upon the international community leaders to play their due role to stop the killings of the innocent Palestinians.
Palestinian Ambassador Shaher Mohammad led the delegation during the half an hour meeting. The envoys congratulated Sheikh Hasina for a landslide victory of her electoral alliance- Mohajote-in December 29 parliamentary elections.
Thanking the envoys for their gesture, the AL president urged the diplomats to increase manpower import from Bangladesh and enhance facilities of Bangladeshis working in their countries.
Sheikh Hasina recalled the role of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) to strengthen fraternal relations among the Muslim countries and solidarity of Islamic Ummah.
The diplomats expressed the hope that the relations between Bangladesh and Muslim countries would further be strengthened in the years to come.
