Bangladesh Total Mobile Subscribers Reach 38.93 Million in March

According to new data from the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC)  www.btrc.gov.bd , the country’s mobile operators added 1.38 million new subscribers in March 2008 to raise the total user base to 38.93 million.   The figures show that market leading GrameenPhone’s subscriber base in March reach 17.81 million; Banglalink’s customer base grew to 8.31 million; AKTEL users grew to 7.45 million; Warid Telecom Bangladesh (which launched in May 2007) has already established itself in fourth place with 2.79 million subscribers at the end of March, CityCell (the only CDMA operator) users base grew to 1.56 million; and state-owned Teletalk was reported to have 1.01 million customers.

The total number of Mobile Phone Subscribers has reached 38.93 million at the end of March 2008.

Sayeed Rahman: Mr. Sayeedur Rahman brings over 12 years of experience in technical management and development. He is currently working as a Business Analyst with Division of Consulting & Project Management for Commonwealth Office of Technology. Mr. Rahman has strong technical background in Unix System Administration and System Engineering, where he worked in the Main Data Center for Commonwealth Office of Technology, Commonwealth of Kentucky. He also has several years of experience as System Analyst and Senior Programmer Analyst for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Mr. Rahman is also the founder of Bangladesh Information Technology group called BANGLA-IT http://www.banglait.org. He participated in various national and international conferences in USA, Taiwan, Vietnam, Bangladesh and presented research based papers. Author of several articles/papers published in Newspapers, Magazines and Books. Apart from the professional activities, he has some interests in research and education assisted development in Bangladesh. Mr. Rahman holds a Bachelor degree in Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, India. He obtained his Masters degree in Engineering from City University of NY (CUNY), City College campus, USA.
