BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, who is also the leader of the main opposition party in Bangladesh, claims that democracy and the fundamental human rights are never safe on the hands of Awami League, who are the new government of Bangladesh. Khaleda Zia said this today while she was speaking at the “Democracy killing Day” program.
Khaleda Zia said, during 1975 on 25 of January while the ruling party Awami league was on power and destroyed democracy for acquiring political power forever, and thus they (Awami League) tried to establish single party government system in Bangladesh. As a result during that time, Awami League destroyed the main theme of a classical democracy- she said.
Indicating to the newly elected government, Khaleda Zia also said that those who are elected in the election by force should not think only for themselves, but for the country, peace and democracy they should be concerned with. This only can be gained peacefully by participating multi political parties on the path of democracy. She also said that it will be difficult to achieve, but they will fight for it as far as possible for the sake of democracy.
