Hello Everyone!
Recently, I was walking down an underpass and suddenly I noticed that the walls were painted with the messages. They were very much coherent to my eyes, but then I lost interest. What do you think the reason could be? I realized that if we shift that message and see the background which is the plain painted wall, isn’t that an art?
A person was paid $500 to have this wall painted for cleanliness. Another person thought that there is no art in a plain wall and so he sprayed some message on the wall. It’s like someone didn’t like the Mona Lisa and sprayed, “I love you Hina” on her face.
The person who wrote this message had no respect for other’s work and he didn’t realize that no one will pay attention to his work and some day the municipal department will wash it .
Now someone wrote, “I love you Hina” on the wall. I would like to ask him will Hina keep watching this message the whole day, doesn’t she has some other work to do.
I am exasperated by such acts of vandalism. Now we have to tell these people, what they think is their right to expression, is in reality destruction of someone’s work, in other words this is vandalism.
What is the need of defacing the wall? Can’t you enjoy the tranquil look of the wall? If you will see things in an insipid manner you will never be able to enjoy life and will move towards failure.
If one wants to express itself , now other mediums are available like one can post its thoughts on a social networking site.
Maybe your graffiti is a fine work of art, but is it right to vandalize someone else work to exhibit our self-expression? This we all need to ask when we see such works.
So for the benefit of all, let us stop invading space and let everyone live in peace.
May be, check on one’s emotion before displaying such work, could be a solution for this problem?
Mr. Banksy is a good artist and let me also say I like his work and art. The medium, he chose to express his thoughts, may be is improper. He could have built a wall on a ground and could have expressed his thoughts.
Let me explain you with the help of an example:
I have taken a picture of the present scenario of the walls of the underpass. (Refer Picture 1, 2)
And now take a look at the clean painted walls, can you see a difference and don’t you think that the clean painted walls are also a piece of art. (Refer Picture 3)
Now take a look at a picture with the shadow of Titanic, isn’t that nature’s art? (Refer Picture 4)
Now let me cut out two frames from the first photo:
In the first frame(Refer Picture 5) you will notice that the branches of the tree are falling on the wall, isn’t the view beautiful but you didn’t notice it, did you?
In the second frame(Refer Picture 6) you will notice the grass growing between the creeks, isn’t it creative but you surely didn’t notice it, did you?
Let’s enjoy the beauty of simplicity and let us not spoil someone else work just to achieve what the Graffiti artists call the right to expression.
Thanks
