Kulgam/Srinagar, August 12 (Scoop News) – Minister for Social welfare, Ms Sakina Itoo on Sunday said that an amount of Rs 28.88 crore has been spent on various road connectivity schemes in Noorabad constituency in District Kulgam so far providing communication facilities to the people of the district.
The Minister was addressing gatherings at Manzgam and Rangth, after laying the foundation stones of 1.5 k.mtr road length Manzgam-Gulwanpora and one k.mtr road length of Ringth-Babapora.
The Minister said that Manzgam-Gulwanpora road will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.19 crore, while the Rangth-Babapora road will come up at a cost of Rs 48.61 lakh. The work on both the roads will be started after Id-ul-Ftre and added that the construction work of both the roads will be taken under PMGSY scheme. She said that the macadamization work will also be done under phase II.
Mrs. Itoo said that presently 32 schemes under PMGSY are under implementation, out of which17 schemes stand completed while as 15 schemes are under progress in Noorabad constituency of Kulgam district.
The Minister said that 18 more roads under PMGSY scheme has been approved for District Kulgam, Out of them 15 schemes are sanctioned alone for Noorabad constituency and said that almost all the rural areas of Noorabad constituency will have connectivity with town and city. She said that since Omar Abdullah led government has prioritized three important sectors, road connectivity, education and health, which are the basic requirements of the common people and also the pillars of any developmental society of the state. She said that near about Rs 1.75 crore have been spent in Damal Hanjipora block under IAY, while Rs.16 crore has been incurred under MGNERGA in Noorabad constituency.
On the occasion, the Minister announced Rs 2 lakh for the fencing of the graveyard of Manzgam area out of her Constituency Development Fund.
She added that the people are the best judges to judge the performance of the present government and said that results are visible on the ground as many schools were upgraded, new schools, and college was opened in Noorabad constituency.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Executive Engineer, PNGSY, Executive Engineer R&B, and other senior district officers were present on the occasion.
The Minister said that after a long period, the famous tourist resort Aaharbal have been put on the tourist map by setting up Aaharbal Tourism Development Authority and since then a record number of tourists have visited this famous tourist resort which in turn provided good employment opportunities to the people of the area.
Responding to the demands of the people she assured them that their all the genuine demands including installation of new transformers will be considered.
