Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) organized a certificate awarding ceremony for 100 Software Programmers for completion of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) Training on Wednesday, 6th August, 2008 at 6:00 pm at Green View, BCFCC, Agargaon, Dhaka. BASIS with the support of ICT Business Promotion Council organized the event. One hundred newly graduated Software Programmers were successfully trained in four batches under the program. The course duration of each batch was one-month consisting of 150 hours. Mr. Feroz Ahmed, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chairman of IBPC attended the event as the Chief Guest and gave away the certificates to one hundred young programmers.
Mr. Habibullah N Karim, President of BASIS, Mr. Ghulam Hossain, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Coordinator of ICT Business Promotion Council, Mr. A.K.M. Fahim Mashroor, Project Director of the Training Program and Mr. Nahid Ahmad, Secretary General of BASIS and some Executive Committee Members of were also present on the occasion.
The main objective of this one-month long intensive training was to bridge the gap between the academic teaching and industry practices. The speakers spoke about some success stories of the IT industry, commendable initiatives of the Government and capabilities of IT professionals and projected a bright future of the Bangladesh ICT industry.
