BASIS organizes monthly luncheon meeting with Workshop

BASIS organized its second monthly luncheon meeting and Workshop on "Working Capital Finance for Software & ITES Firms" in collaboration with Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL), Bangladesh on 20th July, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Gre

Mr. M Aminul Islam Bhuiyan, Secretary, ERD, Ministry of Finance, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chairman of IDCOL attended the event as the Chief Guest.
Mr. Syed Ehsan Quadir, Managing Director, United Leasing Company Limited presented the keynote paper. The other speakers were Mr. Anis A. Khan, Managing Director, IDLC, Mr. Mohammad Masoom, Head of Credit, Trust Bank Ltd, Mr. Rafiqul Islam Rowly, immediate past President of BASIS. Mr. Ehsanul Haque, Executive Director and CEO, IDCOL and Mr. Habibullah N Karim, President, BASIS co-chaired the session.

Head of financial institutes attending the workshop, appreciated the hard work put in by the IT entrepreneurs so far, and underscored the role of institutional financial support for the development of IT sector in Bangladesh. They also admitted that IT sector has a very good prospect and they are eager to find out new mechanism to finance this sector.
It was disclosed by the Executive Director, IDCOL during his speech that IDCOL has set aside a fund to be disbursed as working capital loans among software and ITES companies through Trust Bank Ltd, IDLC Finance Ltd and ULC Ltd.

The meeting was attended by a good number of BASIS members and senior officials from ministries, Journalists from print and electronic media and different financial institutes.
