Bangladesh authorities have arrested a senior police officer and two constables for carrying out a robbery at a businessman’s house in the south-eastern city of Chittagong, police said on Monday. An assistant police commissioner and the two constables, all in uniform, went to the house and stole 175,000 taka ($2,540) in cash and gold ornaments late on Saturday, Chittagong police chief Akbar Ali said. “We arrested them late on Sunday on charges of the robbery. The jewellery items and the money were recovered from them,” he added.
