Beware of the milk that you drink. It may be contaminated and it may kill you.
The Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) in the Philippines announced that milk coming from the People’s Republic of China maybe contaminated and not fit for human consumption. Preliminary result of tests conducted by Chinese authorities confirmed the presence of melamine in some milk brands.
The BFAD announcement was triggered by the complaints from patients, mostly children confined in hospitals in China, about the milk that their children took. They point to the milk that was confirmed to have originated from Chinese manufacturers as the cause of their stomach disorder. Parents of children that were confined in hospitals called for a thorough invrestigation of the incident.
In another development, some countries that imports milk from the People’s Republic of China, have likewise discontinued the consumption of the Chinese milk pending further studies and investigation. The affected countries have sent their experts to China to conduct exhausted investigation on the reported milk contamination.
In the meantime, importing countries of milk from the People’s Republic of China have called for a thorough investigation of the reported milk contamination to allay fears from the milk consuming public.
