Rajouri/Jammu, July 25 (Scoop News)-Continuing the past practice, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University authorities have exhorted the students to apply for different scholarship schemes of the State Government and Central Government for various categories of students enrolled for the year 2013-14.
It is pertinent to mention here that at least 40 percent students of this University receive scholarships every year under different schemes of the Government and University has established a special cell for the implemetation of these schemes in the University .
Following culmination of admission process, authorities have given wide publicity for the enrolled students belonging to Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Resident of Backward Area (RBA), residents of Actual Line of Control (ALC) and students from minority community as per rules.
As per the notification issued by the University, the students have been informed to fill up the prescribed Form duly forwarded by the Head of the concerned departments to office of Dean of Students so that the applications are processed and are forwarded to the concerned quarters well in time for release of scholarship in favour of the students.
Expressing satisfaction over the support of Government with regard to providing scholarships to the students of BGSB University , Vice Chancellor Prof Hamal said that students are being benefited with this scholarship for enrichment of their career and easing of financial burden on the parents . He said that students with the required categories should immediately submit their applications and get this benefit. All support and help is available in the office of Dean of Students of the University.
Others present in the meeting were Prof A K Koul, Dean, Academic Affairs, Sh Mohammad Rashid Choudhary Registrar, Prof Mohammad Asger, Dean, Mathematical Sciences & Engineering, Prof B A Wafai Director, Centre for Biodiversity Studies, Suneet Gupta Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor.
The student representatives and parents have welcomed the initiative of the University to provide scholarship for weaker segements of the society.
