Last night, the second United States Presidential debate between Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois and GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona had taken place. It was at Nashville, Tennessee, in a town-hall style format. Many Democrats and Republicans have called McCain the master of the town-hall. In a nutshell, many have expected McCain to land several knockout blows to Obama.
Last night’s debate should have been McCain’s barbecue. Perhaps it was and it was McCain who ended up being grilled on the “barbie.” But it seemed that Obama may have been the one to grill McCain.
However, winning debates does not necessarily mean one is going to win this November.
There’s still several weeks left until Election Day on November 4. Anything can and will change between now and until then.
Carrying on, Obama running-mate Democratic Senator Joe Biden of Delaware was campaigning in Florida. Florida, Ohio, and several other states are the crucial battleground states for this election. Not long ago, McCain had conceded Michigan to Obama.
Not many within the GOP are happy with McCain’s decision.
Today, Biden went on the offensive against McCain. Biden has accused McCain of covering up his support for current US President George W. Bush.
“You can’t call yourself a maverick when all you’ve ever been is a sidekick,” Biden said attacking McCain. This is possibly the implication that Biden is calling McCain the sidekick to Bush. Also, it could be interpreted as McCain being a side kick to McCain running-mate Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
When McCain chose to pull out of Michigan, Palin publicly voiced her dissenting opinion on the matter. For the most part, it would seem that Palin’s taken control.
However, Biden is not the first person to use this line. First person was Democratic Senator Bob Casey of Pennsylvania. But, Biden was sure to give credit to Casey for coming up with that line.
Biden took the opportunity to jab McCain while appearing at the University of South Florida. So far, Obama and McCain are locked in a tight battle to win Florida. We won’t know until Election Day on who ends up winning Florida.
So far, Biden is going to continue chipping away at McCain until Election Day. However, McCain won’t be alone. Biden plans to dish out a lot of attacks against Palin as well.
Overall, it seems that Biden’s is energized and ready to go on the offensive against McCain and Palin.
