Many Indians now even feel it difficult to pronounce the name of Dominique Lapierre, a writer with a big heart for Indians. Little do the natives know that this philanthropist donated the royalties from the sale of his masterpiece "The City of Joy", published in the year 1985 and established a non-profit organization by the name of City of Joy Foundation, for the children affected by poverty and leprosy.
For his fans, the good news is that he is working on his new book "India my Beloved" which will narrate his experience in India and expected in stores in mid of 2012. Lapierre who has crossed 80 years has seen his organization from a small office to 652 drinking wells, 14 schools and rehabilitation centres all for disabled children in West Bengal. But now this humanitarian mission is into a financial crises due to lack of fund, for which Lapierre is reaching to corporate houses for donation, without which as the man with the hear of gold says " some hospitals and schools will have to closed"
