The biggest festival Phohela Boishakh, 1415 (The first day of Bengali year) observed in a befitting manner in whole Bangladesh where people from all walks participated while they started their day by eating Panta (boiled rice with water) and hellish and pass the whole day through a lot of cultural programs.

Pohela Boishakh was first introduced By the Emperor Akbar in sixteenth century. In that period people of Indian sub continent used Arabic year which is Lunar. But people faced some problem with their business work for this lunar counting of months. Then, Akber decided to introduce a new system. They did not leave the Arabic year but they started to count it in solar system as English year and the new system gets a new name.
