To abolish child labour completely in the state, the Bihar government has formulated a ‘Plan of Action’.The action plan envisages tackling the problem at the origin point, preventing child trafficking and rehabilitating child workers.
A special task force will be constituted for effective implementation of the plan in every district of Bihar. As part of the action plan, in collaboration with NGOs door-to-door surveys will be conducted to detect children working in households, dhabas, hotels and other places.
The plan also proposes convergence of key departments, including Labour, Health, HRD, Social Welfare and Rural and Urban development. As per official data, Bihar accounts for 8.9 per cent of child labour in India.
